I got nominated for an award for Fistful of Glitter, which is totally awesome. A huge thanks to Sapphire Wilson for nominating me and coming up with the list of questions!
The rules for this award are:
- Create a new post thanking the person who nominated you.
- Provide a link to their blog.
- Include the award graphic.
- Answer the questions provided.
- Nominate recently followed bloggers and share your post with them, so they can see it.
- Make a new set of 10 questions for your nominees to answer
The most typical one, but I’ll ask anyway: why did you start this blog?
I’ve talked about this a couple of times on the about page, so you’ll all have to forgive me for repeating the story, but I started this blog when lots of things in my life were falling apart and I needed a way of reminding myself of the good things. I didn’t just want to keep those good things for myself though, I wanted to share them with others, and so Fistful of Glitter was born. It is a little bit different than it was back when I started it, but ultimately, that’s still the main goal of the blog.
Describe yourself in five words:
Feminist. Nerdy. Writer. Friend. Daughter.
What is your biggest fear? Why?
Losing more of the people I love. As I’ve mentioned on this blog before, my father passed away just over six years ago, and I have lost quite a few family members and friends both before and after that. Losing anyone you love is awful, and unfortunately, it happens to us all at some point. It reminds me to treasure people while they’re still part of my life.
Do you like the job you are in? Or If you are still a student, like me, how do you plan to achieve your goal?
I’ve just started writing full time as I need to wait on a proper diagnosis of what is going on with my constantly terrible physical health before I can apply for other jobs again. I am really enjoying it so far and will have good news related to it announced on the blog soon!
Would you like to change the past or see the future and why?
I don’t really like the idea of doing either that much. Everything that has happened to me, no matter how difficult has made me who I am and though I struggle sometimes, I’m pretty happy with being me. As for seeing the future, as someone who suffers from generalized anxiety, I’m fairly sure seeing the future would just lead to terrible anxiety as I constantly tried to avoid anything bad happening. If I had to pick, I would change the past, as seeing the future scares me too much.
What do you prefer reading books or watching movies? Why?
Watching movies, but mainly because I don’t always have the energy to focus on reading pages anymore. My concentration is too crappy over long periods of time.
What thing is the most precious for you?
If thing includes people, then my most precious thing is my family, friends and cat, Alistair. If it’s just physical things, it would either be my laptop as it has all my writing on it or the second edition of Lord of the Rings I have which I was left by my father.
Are you a people person?
Sometimes, depends on the day, how much energy I have, and how much I miss seeing my friends. Unfortunately being sick means I see less of them than I’d like.
Where would you go for your next vacation?
My other half and I are going on a trip later this year. We’re both massive foodies, so anywhere with good food is great. At the moment we’re tossing up between having an expensive holiday in Japan, or saving that for next year and going on a food tour of Tasmania.
Give a quote that sums up your life.
“Only a true romantic is ever disappointed enough to be a cynic.” Joss Whedon
What’s your favourite thing to write about?
What’s your favourite media to experience? (Book, video games, movies ect.)
If you had to live in a fictional world, which fictional world would it be?
Who is your all-time favourite character? Why?
If you could have any power from a video game, movie, television show or book, what would it be? And why?
What is your favourite meal?
What is your favourite comedy show or sketch?
What is your name?
What is your favourite colour?
What is the airspeed velocity of an unladen swallow?
And I nominate:
Lightning Ellen’s Release (As her work is genuinely wonderful to read, and we share an appreciation of Alistair from Dragon Age)
Later Levels (As Kim has supported this blog a HUGE amount and her Creative Christmas is some of the most fun I’ve had writing for a long time)
RetroRedress (As I love reading their work, and I’d like to be able to read more)
American of London (As her reviews of horror movies are an absolute delight to read, even if I’m too much of a scaredy cat to watch most of them)
GamersUnited (As Luna was absolutely lovely to write with for Creative Christmas, and linked to my posts a bunch of time to boot!)
And lastly, but certainly not least
TheBipolarWriter (As James was the first friend I made on WordPress, and his writing continues to inspire me)
